Over the last two weeks of Term 1 we welcomed nine students and one teacher from two schools in Hesse, Germany. The students got to see what school and family life is like in Australia and also went on excursions to Melbourne, the Healesville Sanctuary and Sovereign Hill with the school, as well as sight-seeing with their host families over the weekends. Our German classes were very excited to welcome our special guests and ask them lots of questions about Germany and our sister schools, the Gutenbergschule and the Melibokusschule. Sadly they will leave us on Saturday 1st April as they make their way up to Sydney for 6 fun-filled days as tourists before heading back home. The students have enjoyed our sunny weather, friendly students, TimTams and animals, and all will leave with special memories of their time ‘downunder.’ We would like to say thank you to the wonderful families who hosted our guests during their time and made their stay so warm and welcome.
We will have six students and one teacher from Fountain Gate head over to Germany this September for a month on the second part of the exchange. If you are passionate about learning German and want the chance to experience life in a German school and see the capital city Berlin too, then our future exchange trip will take place in 2019 and is eligible to students who will be in year 9, 10, or 11 that year. For more information, ask your German teacher!
